Dana is finally back state-side and already missing Europe. But it's time for real life... uh oh.

Feast of St. Anthony
Today Jared and I headed for the North End. It's Boston's version of a Little Italy. We went for the Feast of St. Anthony! It's a celebration of food, parades, music, crazy Catholicism and all things Italian!
There's St. Anthony. Where do I get a robe like that?!
We missed the throwing of the confetti...
This little girl said "I'm playing with snow!" I think she's a little off... though this is Boston so we might have snow next week.
And as we were walking through the festival the drum and bugle brigade came through.
Lots of fun and great weather. We're quarantining ourselves in tomorrow. It's the great move-in day in Boston. 90% of leases in non-downtown run September 1 to September 1. And the myriad colleges and universities start this week as well, so it's going to be insane. Already today Jared and I counted 68 moving vans in a 15 minute T ride. Happy Labor Day to all!!

Political
I don't usually get political on this blog, but this isn't really politics... it's just hilarious!!

Apartment Stills
Well I finished my first real week of work. I guess it's pretty cool that I've managed to go over 23 years without ever having a 9-5 kind of desk job. Which is making this all that much harder. My temp job can be a bit boring since it's the few weeks between semesters right now, but I really like the people in the office and the general mood, so it evens out. I do feel like I'm merely living on a few other hours to go to work though. I suppose that's just how it is, right?
Jared has been amazing!! He's been running errands while I'm at work and getting all the move-in kind of stuff done and he's cleaned the apartment again a time or two and every night this week when I got home he had dinner in the oven for us! How awesome is that?! Yeah, I'm pretty lucky. (And the dinners weren't just *blah*. We've had chicken pot pie, tortilla casserole, perogies, tater tot casserole and apple slow baked pork.)
The apartment is really starting to come together finally. A few more things to get into place, but that's what weekends are for, right? Have a great weekend and enjoy the stills!
Our front door. Being on the first floor made moving almost tolerable. Jared has mandated that we can't move again until I put on 20 lbs of sheer upper-body muscle mass.
We have a nice little entrance-way with a coat closet behind the front door. It's not huge, but we've squeezed a lot in.
The bedroom. With the INCREDIBLY comfortable mattress. My first bed with box springs! I could sleep for days in that thing.
One wall has art on it. We're saving up for a big frame for the old map I bought in France and Jared wants and old world map on the other wall. Let us know if you see anything like that.
All my old bedroom furniture, that my dad handcrafted when I was like 2) works perfectly in the bedroom!
Then you go out into the alcove/library. I'm still in shock that all our books fit! Though something tells me the small bookshelf will eventually be replaced by another monster.
Teeny tiny bathroom.
Like I said, teeny. And it came with NO storage. So the poor grad student/temp worker got a little creative.
Living room. Antique chair courtesy of my mother via my grandmother. And the nice little tv. For as much tv as we watch it's probably still too big. lol
Amazingly beautiful coffee table made by my father to match our kitchen table. Jared helped him make it too!
My little sister's beloved couch, courtesy of my parents. Don't worry, we're taking very good care of it. I promise. And it's here anytime you want to visit it K.
Our "office". Somehow I got gypped out of a real desk because I'm not "the student". Well it's MY parents who gave us the desk! lol It doesn't really matter. After 8.5 hours in front of a computer at work I don't even turn mine on most days. :)
Kitchen. With the beautiful flowers on the table that Jared got me on my first day of work. Yeah, he's perfect.
The kitchen. We just got the curtains today. I hated that people could look in at us while we were eating. People stopped at the light on the road would just stare. My friend waved at one of the stare-ers. It was funny.
The tall white cart is a new addition as of today as well.
And that's the apartment. Still kind of a work in progress, but it's getting there a LOT faster than I thought it would.
Off to explore Boston a bit tomorrow and then Jared's uncle is coming over for dinner! Our second dinner-guest. I'm very excited.
Have a great weekend everyone!

The Apartment
Quick update on the apartment. All moved in, first day of temp job went well. No time right now.
Video of apartment.
SUGGEST PUTTING YOUR SPEAKERS ON MUTE! (There's an odd high-pitched buzzing on the video. Can't hear it in the apartment though...)
