J’ai réçu mon arrêté de nomination!! Je sais à lequel écoles j'enseignerai!
Translation: I recieved my letter of nomination!! I know which schools I'll be teaching at!
I will officially be working at Ecole Elementaire Mendes France in a suburb of Chartres called Luce. The school is about 5 miles away from my apartment and according to the paper it is the only school that I'll be teaching at. The could me good things for me, like a less confusing schedule and possibly a better schedule (AKA: Only working 3-4 days per week so I can travel more.)
And I have official documentation that our Orientation will be on October 2nd in Orleans. The packet of info also came with Guidlines for language assistants and a form I have to fill out to get my physical exam. That's right, in order to get my carte de sejour (long stay visa) I have to take enough paperwork to fill several boxes and get a physical that includes a chest x-ray.
Good times. More info as soon as I have it.

Congratulations!
One thing to check on your arrêté is if your school is just written as your "école de rattachement", and not your "école d'exercice".
It happens a lot in primaire that they have no idea where you'll be working when they send the arrêtés out, so they just "attach" you to a random school so you can get your paperwork. And then they give you your real school(s) once you arrive in France. Plus, it is really rare that one primary school would have enough students to give you all 12 hours (because 12 hours really equals 16 - 45 minute sessions).
I didn't know that, and got all excited to have a school a 10 minute walk from my house, but it turned out that I really had FOUR schools in four different parts of town. It worked out great in the end though, it was just a bit of a shock in the beginning.
Congrats! It's great you're guarenteed a place so close to your school, and, from all the information you've been sent, it sounds like they're pretty well organized, which is a good sign.
Thanks for all the congrats! (Is it weird to be more excited about this piece of paper than my college diploma?)
Samantha - My arrete lists that one school for my administrativement and exercer school... It would be nice to be at one huge school, but seeing more of the city in different parts of the city.
Melissa - Dear God I hope they're organized. It would make my stress levels so much lower. :)
Lucky! I am still waiting on mine. I moved recently and not all of my mail has been forwarded. Hopefully my arrete didn't fall into the "return to sender" pile!
As far as the assistantship vs. diploma... that is a tough one. I worked a lot harder (not to mention paid a lot more) for the diploma, so I have to say that I am probably more thrilled to receive that particular piece of paper. But then again I have yet to receive my arrete, so who knows... :)
Salut! I taught in Luce for three years, though not at mendes france. I hate to break it to you, but it turns out that you may not be there at all! Things tend to change pretty quickly in the beginning of the school year, so it may end up being your administrative school and you teach elsewhere. But, imagining your landlord is M. Roques (not to be too freaky, but if you already have an apartment, it's just likely), none of the schools are further from your house than that one. feel free to be in touch if you want the scoop on Chartres/Luce, the assistantship, or whatever. I live near Versailles (though home in the States for a bit) and would be more than happy to help in any way that I can! pmesite7 AT hotmail dot com
