Weekend Update

Updates from this past weekend:

You may have a squash addiction if you buy an entire bushel of squash and then go to the store the next day and see varieties you don't have and want those too.
Is there a rehab clinic for squash addiction? Butternut Ford Clinic perhaps?
A whole winter of squash soup, squash risotto, squash ravioli, roasted squash, mashed squash.
YUM!!

On Saturday, Jared presented a paper of his at the New England Historical Association's conference in Maine. It was his first time in Maine, and while absurdly windy, the foliage was beautiful and a good time was had by all.

Waiting for the panel to begin.
Jared and his fellow presenters for the 9th panel.

Afterward, Jared was very popular, with multiple people lining up to talk to him. Networking!A job well done!

Sunday, Dana ran her first half marathon in Newport, RI - a first visit to RI for both Jared and Dana.
The Kruger brothers, from The Biggest Loser, ran the full marathon. I was a total nerd and snapped a photo. I guess it would have been nerdier to ask to be in the photo with him.
Susan & Pam (other Boston Fit team members) with me at the starting line showing off our numbers.
The race wasn't great. It was a really difficult course - even experienced marathoners just doing the half struggled. The views were amazingly beautiful and the weather was fantastic, but by mile 9 my legs and stomach had really just had enough (I wasn't expecting the course to be quite so hilly!) so it became my goal just to finish.

Which I did.The finish line was right next to the beach.

So glad to be done with that! And I got a medal!!! Now downgrading to some good old 5ks. When I can walk again... it might be a while.Drive home had some good views of Boston that I thought I'd share.

Jared focusing on not getting us killed in Boston traffic.
That's it for this weekend! BIG stuff.
I'll try and keep it more updated from now on.
How many times a year do I say that?
