Le Parc

Not to be confused with le porc, le parc is where small children (and big children) go to play on the playground, where lovers go to sit in bliss, and where the elderly go to walk and enjoy nature. There’s a park right across from my landlord’s other property, where the vast majority of the primary school assistants live. Danielle and I decided to try out the playground equipment to ensure its safety for the children of Chartres… or at least that’s what we were prepared to tell passerbys.

And then we found something quite remarkable. Last week was frigidly cold, and though the weather over the weekend and so far this week has been sunny and just warm enough, we were surprised to see roses still in bloom. Followers of the blog will remember a series of rose pictures from Grenoble’s Journee de Patrimoine so here is a matching set of flower shots.

Vocabulaire
le porc – pork (meat of a pig)
le parc – a park
Also... I taught my first three lessons today. It was awesome. The kids were great, they caught on really fast, and they really seemed to be enjoying themselves! I was going to write more, but I'll draft a proper entry at home and put it up when I can. Lots to do this weekend, so it might not be until Monday! Have a great weekend everyone.

Dana - I'm back to reading your blogs. Love the photos, too. I've decided that with each new entry I'll use one of your pics for my desktop background.

Thanks for the postcard. Have fun - See you at Christmas!
