I DID IT!

So I finished the race. Under the time limit I had set for myself. And I didn't feel like total crap! YAY!!!!! Now it's time to start training for the next 5 mile race at the end of May.

Racer 428 reporting to the starting line... along with 1500 other runners.

Heading off to find a place among the masses. Towards the back of course. I'm in the "slow and steady" category. On your mark... get set...

Go!!! And we're off. It took me almost a minute to get to the actual starting line. Along with everyone else around me I hit my watch when my foot landed on the line.
5 miles, and only 53:00 minutes, later there I am coming into the finish... The picture is far back and I'd just come up a very large hill, but I was running! And I beat everyone in that little pack, so it felt good. Sitting down felt good afterward too... not so much on the standing up.Whole Foods catered the race and had all sorts of goodies for us. Jared and I got back in our wonderful rented ZipCar (we decided the $30 it took to rent it was worth the 15 minute drive instead of the 75 minutes on a bus) and headed home, where we went out for Sunday brunch and then I took a long hot bath.

And now the Ibuprofin and a nap are calling my name. Let the training begin again... maybe Tuesday. :)

Can you make it a rule to only run Whole Foods-catered races? That would be much more motivating. Nice job reppin' the ONU :) Congratulations!

Congrats ... that's a great time, esp for your first race in awhile :) Love the pics ... I'm getting my first bib in two weeks and I don't think I'll even finish my three miles in 53 minutes ;)

I'm so proud of you - glad you actually ENJOY the run rather than tolerate it - you've inspired me to look into some 5ks around home (think I can take Dakota?) M
