What a weekend!

Hello! Time for a little updating...

Friday was J's birthday so I surprised him with a trip to Tomb! He heard about it from a friend and had been interested in going. It was interesting. If I was 10 I would probably think it was the coolest thing ever. It's essentially a teeny tiny amusement-park-esque thing. You arrive and find out they've discovered an ancient tomb right here in Boston during the Big Dig. It's your mission to go into the tomb, find out what happened the professor that last went in there and see if you can find the Pharaoh's burial chamber. But of course the adventure goes all The Mummy on you and the spirit of the Pharaoh puts you through the ringer with tests of your mental and physical abilities. J and I were the only ones on our tour, so we were able to ham it up without offending anyone. Overall it was a little cheesy, but fun nonetheless.

Afterwards I took him out to dinner for some good ol' southern BBQ. We decided on a place not far from our apartment in Brighton called Smoken' Joes. They have live music on some nights and the food was sooooo good we'll definitely go back! Overall it was a great birthday for him I think!

Saturday I went out to eat with some friends at Brown Sugar, a fabulous Thai place in town. It was delicious and it was nice to have a low-key girls night out.

Sunday we really just relaxed and hung out. Even with the overcast blah weather I went out for a run and made it 2 laps around the reservoir, which is about a lap further than I've made it before, so that felt good.

It's my last month as a member of Healthworks. I decided to quit because the monthly fee was making the budget a little tight, and they don't have a pool. I got into swimming in France thanks to D (who is coming to visit in just over a month!!!!!) and I really want to get back into it as cross-training. So tonight I'm headed to the gym to kick off my last month there. Great gym, just expensive for someone living in Boston supporting her SO through school making next to nothing per hour at work. So it looks I'll be off to the YMCA (feel free to start singing) starting in June. (Thanks Mom & Dad!!)

That's about it for this update. Though it's been wonderfully link-heavy so what's one more, right? I was looking at some fitness DVDs on Amazon.com and after searching for a QuickFix DVD I came across this. I'm not sure what to think. I'm kind of grossed out, kind of intrigued and kind of wondering if it's illegal. Any thoughts?

Have a great week! I promise some photos next time!

I did tomb once with an ex. It was fun, there were lots of people in the group, so that made it interesting.

There's also this thing at the Spy museum in DC, hunting Bin Laden or something, I don't remember, but the same idea, and it was pretty cool too, bigger than Tomb I think, you walk through the "streets" of a town, so if you're ever in DC, check it out!

Hi! I stumbled on your blog through the Assistants in France forum, and then I read this entry. I lived in Boston last summer and my best friend worked at the Tomb and had to give tours and my other best friend and I ate regularly at Brown Sugar. What a small world. Just thought I'd say hi!
