Bonjour mes amis. Il fait du soleil en Grenoble et c'est vendredi!!! Cette weekend je visiterai les endoits de la France historique parce que c'est le weekend patrimoine.
In English... Hello everyone! It's sunny in Grenoble and it's Friday!!! This weekend I'm going to visit historical French sites beacause it's heritage weekend. This means that all the public and private historical sites are open with tours for Free!! And just quickly I wanted to run down a list of things I like about France and French culture so far:
- Pain au chocolat : Especially from the little bakery by the internet cafe, because they're always warm out of the oven there and the little old lady that makes them is just about the cutest thing ever.
- Public transportation : It may be really crowded and personal space is a joke, at least by American standards, but for 26 euro I get unlimited rides on both the tram and bus system which run anywhere in Grenoble I could want to go.
- the Language : It just sounds so much prettier than English. It kinda flows and runs together and is graceful. No wonder it's the language of love.
- Dads/Husbands : Maybe it's just Grenoble, but I've seen a LOT more dads and husbands out with the family, taking the kids for a walk, walking around the parc with their wives, helping out with family type stuff than I see in the US.
- the Centre Ville : There's always something going on around here and the little cobblestone side streets are just too perfect for words.
- my Family : I really lucked out with these people. They're a wonderful family who have taken excellent care of me and are so patient with my language skills and lack of cultural knowledge.
- the International Feeling : Hanging out in the dorms with some of my friends we've talked to a man from Tunisia, a Scottish girl, some Germans, some Japanese girls and in my class there are students from Brazil, Columbia, Korea, China, Maurice Island (apparently it's down by Madagascar), and the US. It's just really cool!!
That's all for now. My politics and economics course is having a make up class today so I've got to run to that. Hope everyone's well back in the States. Leave some love! Oh and a friendly little reminder.....

Dear Dana,
I love your journal and am enjoying my vicarious trip to France! I especially enjoy your passages (and that of your French teacher) in French and am finding my own French to be less rusty (at least in understanding) than I would have thought. What wonderful experiences you're having and how amazing it is that you will be fluent in this beautiful language when you return to the states! Your vivid descriptions are making all the Murphys insanely envious of your opportunity! Take care and keep the info flowing.
Love,
Mrs. Murphy

So say SOMEONE wished to send you a letter. How many stamps?
Hi Dana,
Sounds like you're enjoying your time in Europe. I am desperately jealous. Someday I'll get there. In the meantime, thanks for all the awesome photos & descriptions. I almost feel as if I'm there with you.
Love,
Aunt Barb
