Today I learned a bit about how the French justice system works. The sexual deviant that claims to be the "gardener" here went a few steps too far with the newly arrived Chinese exchange student who moved in downstairs so Lisa and I helped her call the police. And they came. And then they arrested him. And we got to go "downtown" to make a statement. And he's being held overnight to sober up before he makes a statement and goes before a judge. And the best part of it is that our scumbag of a landlord admitted it wasn't the first time this had happened and that he knew about it so now he has to go in front of a judge and explain why he knew about the situation and didn't fire the man or do anything else to prevent it from happening again.
The strangest part is that the "gardener" only seems to show up when someone new moves in. And the other strange part is that our "landlord" only seems to rent to young, single, foreigners. Coincidence? I think not.
Other than that we've had FABULOUS weather all weekend long. I'm sure I just jinxed it, but it was nice while it lasted. Just two days of teaching this week. Everyone has Thursday off. I'm not sure why, but you don't question good things.
Hope everyone else had a fabulous weekend!
Vocabulary learned from my experience today:
baisser ses pantalons - to take off one's pants
boulverser - to be very distressed
plainte - complaint
commissariat - head police station
magistrat - judge

Ummm awkward! Sorry that "gardener" is such a scumbag. :(
Thursday is Labor Day in most of the world. Not sure why the US has it in September... And this year Ascension also falls on May 1, so normally we would get one less jour férié in May, except the lundi de Pentecôte is now a holiday, so we also get May 12 off.
ewwwwww, i can only imagine what happened but i don't want to, ewwwwwww. thank heavens he's being dealt with. good thing you're traveling a lot this month. i'm praying for an incident free last two months for you . . .
